IDRA Group , a key supplier of Tesla, has introduced a new machine known as the Giga Press 𝐍𝐄𝐎.The Italian company is known for manufacturing Giga Presses, which are used for casting single-piece front and rear ends for cars. The use of these castings has several benefits, such as reducing the number of manufacturing steps and parts involved in traditional methods.
Given the close relationship between IDRA and Tesla, it is possible that the new machine may become part of Tesla’s plans for implementing the new car platform. The Giga Presses are currently being used in the production of Tesla’s Model Y and will also be used for the production of the Tesla Cybertruck.
On Tuesday, IDRA announced the development of the new Giga Press NEO through its LinkedIn page. In a video showcasing the assembly of the machine, the company said that 𝐍𝐄𝐎 offers the perfect solution for production of large-scale aluminum parts, this will be driving the future of vehicle manufacturing. IDRA stated that The machine is suitable for producing structural, battery box, and rotor components for hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as large-scale aluminum parts complete with full automated HPDC cells.
