In one of our previous articles, we’ve talked about the 5 Easy and Effective Habits for a More Sustainable Life. Among these “green” habits there are, of course, day-to-day products, such as household cleaning products, laundry detergent etc.

For those seeking an eco-friendly approach for laundry care, today we would like to share with you this easy to make recipe of homemade scented laundry, with your favorite fragrance! A funny way to spend quality time with yourself or the love ones and minimize your environmental impact by reducing your carbon footprint.

Ingredients

  • 2 liters of water
  • 75 to 100 grams of Marseille soap (flakes or grated)
  • 42.5 grams of baking soda
  • 4 to 5 drops of essential oil (scent of your choice. We’ve tried lavender and the peppermint, both are great!)

How to proceed?

Now that you have all the ingredients above, making your laundry detergent by yourself is a piece of cake!

  1. Mix the Marseille soap (flakes or grated) with the baking soda
  2. Add them into the water then stir well using a whisk
  3. Add the essential oil, put everything in a bottle and shake it well (make sure you close it before you shake)
  4. Let it rest for one night and shake well before use (the ingredients mix better with time, but you can use it right away after preparation)

It works just as well as the conventional laundry detergent you can purchase in stores.

This simple, yet highly effective combination of natural components will benefit for the planet, your health and your wallet as well !

A regular laundry detergent sold in the supermarket costs around 10 to 25 euro for 2 liters while for our home made one, you will pay around 2 to 4 euro for the same quantity. So why settle for expensive commercial products made of harmful chemicals when you can make a superior natural laundry detergent in the comfort of your own home?
